There is already a wide range of local heritage items in the store. The largest collection is the reserve collection of the House on Crutches Museum: including for example items of domestic and agricultural use, costume, toys, photographs and documents relating to trade and property.
Bishop’s Castle Town Council have lodged their papers and minute books in this very convenient local, museum standard store and local voluntary and other organisations and private individuals are following suit.
Historic property deeds (no longer of the legal significance that they once were) are finding their way to the store - yielding a wealth of information about individuals and organisations in the town over the centuries.
Individuals are also finding the store a convenient and beneficial home for their personal memorabilia and collections - a means of securing them for the future and sharing them with others.
Bishop’s Castle Heritage Resource Centre provides the WHOLE community with secure museum standard storage. Shelf space within this large repository is available for rent, providing depositors with a safe, controlled environment in which to store artefacts and documents
Becoming a Depositor with BCHRC means that not only will your heritage collection be safe into the future but also that you or your organisation retain full ownership of your items. We DO ask you to agree to making them available for public access, at the very least to individual researchers. Where possible we would like permission to use them (or reproductions) in public displays and educational materials we produce for use at BCHRC and other local venues.
